Accessible and Affordable Housing Development in Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend
AHRI rental housing includes a five one-bedroom apartment complex at 1602 South Staples Street, and a three-bedroom shared home on Riley Street in Corpus Christi. Safe, permanently affordable housing that is fully accessible is provided for individuals with disabilities, like Adam and Martin, pictured here outside their home at Riley Gardens.
AHRI’s volunteerBoard has developed three rental properties in Corpus Christi and serves as the property manager for two of these supported housing properties. These include:
1602 South Staples Street- an apartment complex with five one-bedroom units
Riley Gardens- a shared 3-bedroom home
Seventh Street- two transitional efficiency units
These properties are fully accessible for individuals with physical disabilities. Combined, these properties have provided transitional and permanent housing for 10 households over the past year. HUD Section 811 funds were utilized to develop both Riley Gardens and South Staples Street Housing and to subsidize operating expenses. The Section 811 program requires an independent Board of Directors to own each property separately, and allows a Management Agent for daily management activities. AHRI is the Management Agent for Riley Gardens; Suzanne Smith Property Development is the Management Agent for South Staples Street.
